Hidden Gem Record Stores in Denver Worth Digging Through
This isn’t a Top 10 or Top 5 list of record stores in Denver, there are already plenty of those, as Denver has no shortage of record stores. But to me, a few of these Denver record stores still feel like true crate-digger destinations — the kinds of places where you discover something unexpected every visit. Whether you’re hunting rare punk pressings, affordable used vinyl, jazz deep cuts, or simply want a neighborhood shop with real personality, these hidden gem record stores around Denver stand out from the bigger mainstream names. I’m also highlighting some new stores that you may not have heard of, and some places you may have never considered. In no particular order, My Hidden Gem Record Stores:
Chain Reaction Records
8799 W Colfax Ave
Lakewood, CO 80215
Phone: 303.237.4445
Hours:
Tue – Sat: 11:30AM – 7PM
Sun – Noon – 5PM
Website: http://www.chainreactionrecords.com/
Chain Reaction Records has been a favorite among Denver-area punk, hardcore, and metal fans for years. It’s the kind of shop collectors recommend quietly to other collectors — especially if you’re into underground music, indie releases, and hard-to-find pressings outside the mainstream. The store has a strong reputation among local music fans for knowledgeable staff and deep genre specialization. Reddit discussions about Denver record stores routinely mention Chain Reaction as a top sleeper pick for serious vinyl hunters. Chain Reaction is not for everyone, and doesn’t want to be, but is like no other record store in Denver.
Invincible Vinyl
99 Kalamath St.
Denver, CO 80223
Phone: (720) 645-2577
Hours:
Thurs – Fri: Noon – 6PM
Sat – Sun: Noon – 5PM
Website: https://invinciblevinyl.com
If you’re looking for a true neighborhood record store experience, Invincible Vinyl is one of the best hidden gems in Denver. Located near the Santa Fe Arts District, the shop leans heavily into the “dig the dig” philosophy with a massive genre variety, constantly rotating used inventory, fair pricing, and zero pretension. The store focuses on vinyl, CDs, and cassettes without turning into a novelty shop full of random merch. Owner Dave has built a reputation for being approachable, knowledgeable, and honest when buying or trading collections. Collectors regularly mention finding records here they don’t see elsewhere in town. It’s especially strong for rock, punk, metal, jazz, soul, and obscure finds. Great pricing, friendly vibe and constantly updated inventory make this a great shop.
Goldmine Vintage
227 N. Broadway #102
Denver, CO 80203
Phone: (303) 447-0065
Website: https://www.goldminevintage.com/
This one may seem like it’s a bit out of left field, as Goldmine Vintage is primarily a vintage clothing shop, but tucked inside is a small vinyl selection that feels more like a passion project than a traditional record store. Curated by co-owner Tom, the records reflect personal taste and a love of music rather than a commercial inventory strategy. It’s not a destination record shop in the traditional sense – and that’s exactly the point. If you’re already shopping for vintage clothing, or just popped over from Huckleberry Roasters up the street, the vinyl section is well worth a dig – a small, thoughtful extension of the shop’s creative and eclectic vibe. For reference, the entire collection is about the size of the “New Arrivals” at Twist & Shout, but you know…cheaper.
Records on Main
2430 W Main St
Littleton, CO 80201
Phone: (303) 880-8023
Website: https://recordsonmain.com/
Records on Main feels less like a retail chain and more like a community-built vinyl shop. Located in downtown Littleton, this newer family-owned store has quickly earned a loyal following for its welcoming atmosphere, curated selection, and strong focus on music culture. The store blends new releases with classic catalog titles and growing used inventory, making it approachable for newer collectors while still interesting for longtime vinyl fans. Customers consistently praise the vibe, layout, and friendly ownership. They tend to focus a bit more on new vinyl than used, but that’s probably due to the newness of the store.
Recollect Records
1255 Delaware Street,
Denver, CO, 80204
Phone: 720 542 8785
Website: https://www.recollectrecords.com/
Hours:
Mon – Sat: 10 AM – 8PM
Sun – 10 AM – 6PM
Recollect Records has become a go-to for collectors looking for carefully curated inventory instead of overwhelming warehouse-style bins. The shop has a clean, modern feel while still catering to crate diggers searching for quality used vinyl, indie records, jazz, soul, experimental music, and collectible pressings. It’s especially popular among younger vinyl collectors and people looking for thoughtfully selected inventory over sheer quantity.
Angelo’s CDs and Vinyl
Denver
1959 S Broadway
Denver, CO 80210
Phone: 303-798-6378
Aurora
16711 E Iliff Ave Aurora, CO 80013
Phone: 303-337-1399
Website: https://shop.angeloscds.com/
With two locations, Angelo’s is one of the larger record stores on this list, but it’s still one of my favorites. Angelo’s is one of Denver’s longest-running independent music stores and still attracts collectors looking for everything from vinyl and CDs to nostalgic music culture. The Broadway location has a chaotic, old-school energy that appeals to longtime collectors and bargain hunters alike. While opinions on pricing can vary depending on the release, the sheer volume of inventory and decades-long local presence make it a staple in the Denver record scene.
